Autoimmune Diseases
Fungi
Fungi are everywhere. Sometimes, they are so small that they cannot be seen with the naked eye. Fungi can live in outdoor soil and plants; on indoor surfaces and in the air; on human skin and inside the body. There are millions of types of fungi, but only a few hundred can cause illness in humans.
Mild fungal skin infections often appear as rashes and are very common. For example, ringworm is a skin infection caused by fungi and not by worms! Fungal infections in the lungs can be more serious, often causing symptoms similar to other diseases, such as bacterial pneumonia or tuberculosis. Fungal meningitis and bloodstream infections are less common than skin and lung infections, but they can be life-threatening.
Because the symptoms of fungal infections can be similar to those of other diseases, accurate diagnosis and treatment are often delayed. The more you understand about fungal infections, the greater the chance of developing one, and you will be better equipped to protect your health.
Bacteria
Bacteria are single-celled organisms. Under a microscope, they appear as spheres, rods, or spirals. They are tiny; a pencil eraser can hold about a thousand of them. Most bacteria do not harm you — less than 1% of different types of bacteria can make humans sick. Many are beneficial. Some bacteria aid in food digestion, destroy pathogenic cells, and provide essential vitamins for the body. Bacteria are also used in the production of health foods, such as yogurt and cheese.
However, pathogenic bacteria can make you sick. They reproduce quickly within your body. Many release a substance called toxins, which can damage tissues and make you ill. Bacteria that cause infections include streptococcus, staphylococcus, and Escherichia coli.
Antibiotics are commonly used treatments. When taking antibiotics, be sure to follow the instructions carefully. Each time you take antibiotics, you increase the chances of bacteria in your body developing resistance to them. Later, you might contract or spread infections that antibiotics cannot cure.
If you have any illness, please follow your doctor's complete medical plan; and before using a multidisciplinary rehabilitation program, you must consult your primary care physician. If your primary care physician does not recommend you join a supplement management program, please do not use it. If you need to seek a second opinion from another doctor, you can contact us online<NoBorderless Doctor> or seek a re-diagnosis from other specialized doctors in your city.
